[Some call it merciless bullying. Rita calls it Just Another Friday.]
I didn't go there to meet people, you know. It's not a networking event.
[It...kind of is but. Rita is Rita.]
But the conference itself was okay. Some of it was pretty dull, though. Can you believe how many people just present the same thing each time? Don't they ever get any new results? Not to mention there were plenty of others that obviously had no idea what they were doing. It's such a pain to have to sit there and listen to them all day.
[Despite all her complaining, there were actually actually some presentations and topics that she liked...]
There wasn't even anything new? That sounds too boring. [ He sympathizes! ] No wonder people were so bored they were looking to cause trouble. Surely someone presented something interesting?
maybe they are...magic college roommates or something?!
Boring?? (αα£α)Υ Rita, when have I been boring? Ah, if you want to hear about my night, I'll tell you about it.
[ He sends that message, and then continues in another. ]
It wasn't a convention, but there was a meeting happening at one of that community center on the other side of town (that one where they hosted the rare book sale last summer that sold out before we arrived), so I decided to drop in just to have a peek. (ββ½β)β
[ And another message. ]
Since it wasn't widely announced, there were only 10~12 people there for it. The host was so prepared, but there really was no helping the attendance at that point... (- Ο -γ) He was actually a really nice guy, too!
[ And a fourth. ]
He works with one of the animal shelters in the next town and monitors the effects of excessive magic around normal animals. Ah, though you've probably heard about things like that all day. ;;
[ when will he stop ]
It was interesting! So after he was done there, I invited him and a few others out, did this and that, and anyway, I'm home now! ( Λκ³βΛ )*:ο½₯οΎβ§
[How is it that a person can say so much and yet so little at the same time...]
You really know how to gloss over stuff, don't you?
Anyway, that topic didn't come up in any of the talks that I saw, so I wonder if he actually had anything interesting to say. Since only academic research gets presented at this conference, the scope can actually be pretty narrow. Did you take any notes?
no subject
I agree that picking a fight was bad form, but losing all credibility also feels like too much. Surely that much wasn't necessary??
no subject
I'd say they had that much coming to them. If they really want that credibility back, they'll just have to start over.
In a different field.
sowwy i am back!!
Was their understanding really that flawed...?
no worries!!
[As far as she's concerned, it's so cut and dry that she leaves it at that.]
Anyway, they ran off in tears and everything. How pathetic!
β‘
Ah, but besides that! How did this conference of yours go over? Did you meet anyone interesting there?

I guess there were a couple that weren't bad. There were some topics I wasn't really familiar with...so I guess I might've learned one or two things.
Anyway, what were you up to that whole time?
magic college roommates! β¨
As for me, I just straighten out the apartment a bit and did the usual. [ read: went out and did who-knows-what. ]
excellent~!
[Says Rita who almost never straightens up anything.]
